Morgana and her two friends were purchased to be raised for food during the fall holiday season. Confined to a small cage in Raleigh, NC, their gentle presence caught the attention of a nearby neighbor and her daughter. Day after day, the pair stopped to visit, soon realizing that the turkeys each had distinct personalities and would softly purr when shown affection. As the holidays drew closer, the neighbor grew increasingly worried about their fate. Moved by compassion, she convinced the birds’ owner to surrender them and personally drove them to the safety of our sanctuary. Now, Morgana and her friends will spend the rest of their lives surrounded by kindness, care, and freedom at The Refuge.
